ABOUT OUR THERAPISTS.

An East Texas Native, I graduated from Diboll High School in 1999. I currently live in Diboll with my husband, two children, a sweet dog, and a really squeaky guinea pig. And I LOVE tacos. I also love working out (but mainly so I can have more tacos), reading, cooking (did I mention that I have a taco recipe for each night of the week), and watching movies. I pick up various hobbies on occasion, like painting, couponing, and for about 3 minutes one Saturday morning, even running! I am a self-proclaimed taco connoisseur, and occasionally drive around East Texas looking for a new taco stand to try. Like a lot of people, my hobbies and interests have evolved over the years, but one thing that is consistent is my compassion and dedication to the individuals I serve. I LOVE people and I LOVE my job.

My desire to help others grow and be their best started when I was in high school. I strongly believed this was God’s path for me, though I didn’t quite know what that would look like until I started my undergraduate degree at East Texas Baptist University. Shortly after that was complete, God opened the doors to allow me to attend Sam Houston State University where I received my Master’s in Clinical Psychology. I completed the requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor and moved back to Lufkin. God wasn’t finished torturing me with post-graduate work, and he again opened the doors to allow me to pursue another opportunity to further my education, and I went on to receive my doctorate and become a Licensed Psychologist.

As you can see, I’m just a regular person, but I’m also a great listener, well-educated, and have tons of valuable insight to offer. I hope to make your experience in therapy comfortable, easy and successful. I look forward to the opportunity to partner with you on your journey through therapy. Please feel free to read more about my credentials, education and training in the “More about Dr. Cooper’s education and training” section.

MEET CRYSTAL BONNER

I am a South Texas native and came to East Texas for college and fell in love with the area. I received my Master’s in Community Counseling at Stephen F. Austin in 2006. Since graduation I have been providing therapeutic interventions to kids and adults including crisis interventions, general mental health counseling, groups and community education. I have been married since 2006, have two young children and enjoy spending time with my family, especially when that time is spent on a cruise! In my spare time, I enjoy couponing, painting, baking & working on fundraisers for community projects. I love trying new food trucks and currently the Indian food truck is my favorite. I have been blessed to help others reach their goals and see their full potential.

MEET LORI COON

I became interested in counseling while teaching Women Studies class. I realized many women were struggling with deep emotions and past traumas, causing them to have self-doubt, fear and shame.

I could listen to their concerns as a friend, but I lacked the tools to really help them heal. This created in me a desire to expand my knowledge so that I could lend more than a listening ear. I decided to return to college and pursue this passion. Being married and having a child sometimes proved difficult but working with these women gave me motivation to complete my goal.

My first job after completing my degree was at Crisis Center where I worked with women, men, and children who were victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  In my work with clients, I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) & Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to work with individuals who struggle to maintain a productive life and a healthy thought process.

No one is exempt from the far-reaching effects of imbalances or situational happenings beyond our control. The highlight of my counseling career is when I witness my clients’ enlightening ‘Ah Ha’ moments.

I enjoy working with all ages and have no gender preference. Prior to my counseling career, I worked extensively with children and youth in the role of a teacher and music director. In these roles, I gained insight to emotions, passions, and the fear of being vulnerable. As the daughter and granddaughter of ministers, I developed a keen sense of the silent needs of others, and the struggle to keep up appearances in our society. I have two fantastic sisters and a wonderful son who has added to my repertoire of working with teens and young adults.

I enjoy sailing, traveling, and spending time sitting beside the ocean.
